Apples to Apples

Neoteric – it's an exotic word, one not many people know, but one that compactly describes what we at Ink'd do. The dictionary defines neoteric as 'a new writer or philosopher.' Ink'd defines it as cutting edge content without any of the content mill nonsense. It’s content that is written specifically for individual companies. Content that is optimized – not just for the search engines, but for human readers. Content that is different from everything else on the Internet.

Monolithic Freelancers
I won't lie to you, I've walked miles on the content road. I started out rough, advertising my services on freelance websites like Freelance.com and eLancer. These sites and others like them serve a noble purpose, to connect freelancers with those in need of their services, but they aren't neoteric...more like monolithic.

These monstrosities don’t work in the real world for two big reasons:

  • Bidding – Writers bid to win projects and the cheapest bid usually wins. Unfortunately, this means hiring writers who speak English as a second language, or who are so vastly underpaid that they simply cannot produce quality work and still make a living (I'm not afraid to admit that when I started I made $1.50 for 500 words).

  • Groups – Authors often ban together, forming coalitions of writers. They bid on huge projects and divvy up the work. The result is anything but cohesive.

Spin Class for Content
{Did you know/Where you aware} that some {content/articles/web words} are {written/composed/authored} specifically to be spun?

That's right – a lot of Internet content is mass produced using the least amount of effort and a really nifty little software program. This means that just one sentence (like the one above) can be 'spun' into many different versions. A so called 'author' can write one article, run it through the software and sell slightly different copies to multiple customers. Sounds smart – doesn't it?

Trust me when I tell you that those who produce spun articles are not spinning out gold - more like tarnished iron. They don’t work for three reasons:

  • The content is not unique – it may get passed plagiarism checkers, but it is really nothing more than regurgitated words.

  • The content doesn't always make sense because it is machine generated.

  • The content doesn't impart your own voice and tone.

Churning Out the Words
Website owners have another option: large companies that specialize in Internet marketing. These companies have a vast staff, offer a variety of services from eCommerce descriptions to reputation management, and often have long and impressive client lists. The large companies literally churn out thousands of content pieces each month. Some have as many as 500 writers on staff.

Don Quixote fought valiantly against wind mills - maybe we should do the same with content mills because:

  • The content they produce is often generic and lacks that special 'something' that keeps readers interested and engaged.

  • Authors are vastly underpaid (so the company can make maximum profit), forcing many to write hundreds of pieces every month to make ends meet, thus sacrificing quality.

  • The solutions offered by content mills are 'cookie cutter' solutions – writers are often given style guides that are exactly the same for multiple customers with only the client name and keywords changed.

  • The companies are impersonal.

Ink'd is Neoteric
Ink’d believes there is a new and better way to produce content. It starts with our writers. We pay them well above industry standard, guaranteeing that our projects always get their full attention. We tailor every project to the specific client, discussing YOUR needs and what is different about YOU. The content we produce will be in your voice, will be 100% original and will stand out.

Finally, there is nothing impersonal about Ink'd. You will work with a dedicated content specialist, who will focus specifically on your project. You will have the opportunity to choose which of our talented writers will work on your project. In short, everything about Ink'd is new and different. It is the new way to produce content.

So, you are faced with a choice. Do you want to work with a monolithic company who will sell you sub-par or spun content? Do you want to work with writers who make less than they deserve and are forced to write hundreds of articles each month to survive? Do you want to pay for content based on a form you filled out?

Or would you rather approach your Internet content in a new -- neoteric -- way?  The Ink’d way.
